Semester One in Review!

With just 2 more days of class and 3 more exams I am so happy for the semester to be completed. Although there is still a lot more studying to do in the next 2 weeks, I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel. As I do a quick recap of the semester, overall I believe that it went very well and was really enjoyable. I didn’t anticipate that I would have so many papers to write but in the end I realized that’s what it is like being a University student. In the last three months I have met many great friends that have helped me along my journey. Another key point that I want to make about the beginning of my nursing career is how much my perception of nursing has changed. Coming into the program I thought nursing only consisted of the physical aspect of caring. Now I know that it is a holistic approach on caring where the nurse must meet the patient’s physical, emotional, mental and spiritual needs. Overall, I believe this semester was a good introduction into nursing and I am looking forward to clinical next semester. This will give me a chance to put everything I have worked hard to learn this semester into action on a real patient. But before I tackle that challenge I need a nice relaxing Christmas break under the Cuban sun!

11 more days and counting! Happy Holidays everyone.
